Elected Official at City Of Hickory

Hank Guess has extensive experience in public service, currently serving as an elected official for the City of Hickory since December 2009, representing all citizens. Since September 2008, Hank has also worked as a substitute teacher and bus driver with Catawba County Schools. Prior to these roles, Hank was a firearms/range instructor at Tactical Defense Academy, Inc. from February 2014 to May 2015 before the company ceased operations. Volunteer work with Special Olympics North Carolina spanned from January 1990 to August 2013. Hank retired from the Hickory Police Department in May 2008 after a distinguished career as a police lieutenant, which included responsibilities in patrol, investigations, management, and education. Educational achievements include attending the FBI National Academy in 2002, completing management development at the North Carolina Justice Academy, earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Administration from Gardner-Webb College, and obtaining an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Police Science from Western Piedmont Community College.
