Corey Lakin

Corey Lakin has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of community services and recreation management. Corey currently serves as the Deputy Director of Community Services at the City of Irvine, where they collaborate with the Director to oversee various program functions in the Community Services Department. Prior to this, Corey was the Community Services Manager at the same organization, responsible for managing parks and recreational programs, community centers, and special events.

Before joining the City of Irvine, Corey served as the Director of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services at the City of Culver City, where they led the development and maintenance of parks, managed recreation facilities and programs, and provided senior and community services. Corey was also a Director of Recreation and Community Services at the City of Los Alamitos, where they effectively managed staff and activities to enhance the quality of life for residents.

Corey's earlier experience includes roles such as Community Services Coordinator at the City of Lakewood, CA, and Recreation Services Coordinator at the City of Riverside. Corey began their career as a Recreation Leader at the City of Cerritos.

Throughout their career, Corey has demonstrated strong leadership skills, effective staff management, and a commitment to providing exceptional service to communities. Corey has also been involved in strategic planning, advisory, and committee work related to child care and youth services.

Corey Lakin obtained a Bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo, which they attended from 1998 to 2003. Prior to that, they completed their high school education at Whitney High School from 1992 to 1998. Later, Corey pursued a Master of Public Administration (M.P.A.) in Public Administration at California State University-Long Beach from 2011 to 2013.
