Angelita Velasco Gunn

Angelita Velasco Gunn is an experienced professional in the field of social services and advocacy. Currently serving as a Project Manager for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services, Angelita focuses on quality assurance and contract reviews within the Division of Victim Services. Additionally, Angelita holds a position as a City Council Member for the City of Jackson since December 2021. Previously, Angelita was the Executive Director of AWARE, Inc., a nonprofit providing crisis services for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, and served as Associate Director for the Michigan Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence. With earlier roles including Senior Program Associate at Charities Review Council and Grants Analyst at the Michigan Department of Corrections, Angelita has cultivated a strong background in program development and support. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Michigan State University and prior studies at the University of Minnesota.
