O'Connell Dominic has extensive experience in sports and horticulture. As Parks Supremo at the City of Joondalup, O'Connell has applied expertise in horticulture gained from a Certificate of Horticulture obtained from West Coast Institute of Training in Perth. O'Connell's involvement in rugby spans decades, serving as a player, member, coach, and supporter for Daramalan Rugby from 1974 to 2014, and as a coach and supporter for Cottesloe Rugby Union Football Club from 1987 to 2016. O'Connell's educational background also includes studies at Woden TAFE in Canberra and finishing higher education at St Joseph's College in Sydney. O'Connell continues to pursue further education at West Coast Institute of Training in Perth.
