Michael Heffner

Deputy Fire Chief at City of Kennewick

Michael Heffner began their work experience as a Fire Captain at the City of Salem in 2001 and held the position until 2016. Michael then joined the Oregon Office of State Fire Marshal as the Assistant Chief Deputy State Fire Marshal, where they worked until 2021. In 2018, they also became an Adjunct Instructor for the Fire Service Administration Program at Eastern Oregon University. Currently, they are the Deputy Fire Chief at the City of Kennewick.

Michael Heffner obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Geography, with a minor in Speech Communication, from Portland State University between 1992 and 1996. Following that, they pursued an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Fire Protection Technology from Portland Community College from 1993 to 1997. In 1999, Michael obtained a Paramedic certification from the Oregon Health Authority. Later, they completed a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Fire Services Administration from Eastern Oregon University from 2010 to 2012. Finally, from 2014 to 2017, they attended California State University, Long Beach, where they earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Emergency Services Administration.
