Michael Hornes currently serves as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Kerrville since February 2022. Previous roles include Assistant City Manager for the City of Live Oak and City Manager as well as Assistant City Manager and Deputy Director of Public Works for the City of Palestine, Texas. Michael has extensive experience as an independent contractor providing GIS consulting services and has held various positions ranging from GIS Analyst to Business Analyst/GIS Tech II, primarily in the public sector. With a Master's degree in Public Policy/GIS and a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology from Texas Tech University, Michael has a solid educational foundation to support a diverse career in municipal management and GIS analysis.

Kerrville is located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, and surrounded by majestic rolling hills, the beautiful Guadalupe River, and picturesque trees. Kerrville is 60 miles west of San Antonio on interstate 10 and covers 12 square miles. While Kerrville has approximately 24,000 residents, the city swells daily and seasonally as an economic, retail, medical, and higher education center for the region. The Guadalupe River weaves throughout the community and offers fishing, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and camping.
