Michael May

Michael May is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in strategic leadership and communications. Currently serving as the Deputy Chief Administrative Officer for the City of Kitchener since August 2012, Michael leads the Community Services Department, managing a workforce of over 1,200 staff and overseeing an annual operating budget of $52 million. Prior to this role, Michael held various positions within the City of Kitchener, including Interim Director of Human Resources and Director of Communications and Customer Service, where strategic advice and communications strategies were developed for city leadership and council. Michael also served as Assistant Vice President of Media Relations at Manulife Financial, enhancing the company's public profile and managing crisis communications. Early career roles included significant positions in parliamentary affairs and communications for members of parliament, complemented by a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Speech Communications from the University of Waterloo.
