Brian Rewis has extensive work experience in community and economic development. Brian currently holds the position of Director of Community & Economic Development at the City of Lakeland, starting in December 2021. Prior to this role, they served as the Assistant Director of Community & Economic Development at the same organization from December 2018 to December 2021. Brian's earlier roles at the City of Lakeland include Community Improvement Manager from May 2015 to December 2018 and Neighborhood Services Manager from April 2008 to May 2015. Before joining the City of Lakeland, they worked as a Code Enforcement Division Manager at the City of Lake Wales from June 2003 to April 2008. Brian started their career at the City of Lake Wales as a Code Enforcement Supervisor from March 1999 to May 2003.

Brian Rewis completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management from Warner University, which took place from 1999 to 2007. Prior to that, they obtained an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree in Communication, General from Polk State College. In addition to their degrees, Brian also holds various certifications. Brian became a Certified Public Manager from Florida State University in September 2009, acquired expertise in Community Real Estate Development from the University of South Florida in September 2009, and obtained a Code Enforcement Professional certification from the Florida Association of Code Enforcement, Inc. in February 2001.
