Madison Bjertness has a diverse work experience in various roles and organizations. Madison has worked for the City of Livonia as a Community Development Division Director since November 2022. Madison was previously a Community Development Specialist and a Library Commissioner for the same organization. In addition, they have also served as a Community Development Intern for the City of Livonia. Madison also worked as a Community Development Intern for the City of Westland in 2021.
Apart from their local government experience, Madison has also worked for the Michigan House Democratic Fund as a Finance Associate. Madison has gained experience in political campaigns as well, having served as a Campaign Manager for Ranjeev Puri for State Representative, a Communications Fellow for the Great Lakes Political Academy, and a Field Director for the Maureen Miller Brosnan for Livonia Mayor campaign. In 2018, they interned for Bill Wild for Congress.
In terms of their educational background, Madison worked as a Student Assistant at Wayne State University from 2019 to 2021. Before that, they worked as an Office Assistant at Szuba and Associates, PLLC. These experiences have provided Madison with a well-rounded skill set and a strong foundation in community development, finance, politics, and administrative work.
Madison Bjertness completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science & Criminal Justice from Wayne State University from 2018 to 2021. They obtained a certification as a Certified Public Housing Manager from the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) in January 2022.

Livonia offers an array of recreational opportunities. The Livonia Parks and Recreation Department now oversees 46 developed municipal parks that encompass nearly 1,800 acres. Livonia takes pride in its 3 city owned and operated golf courses, twenty-two playgrounds, forty-two baseball diamonds, thirty-three tennis courts, and twenty-seven soccer fields. The City also owns two indoor ice arenas with three sheets of ice. Livonia's state of the art Community Recreation Center is a 130,000 square-foot facility with two pools, four gyms, gymnastics center, climbing wall, indoor soft playground and fitness center with indoor track.
