Derrick Abell has over 30 years of law enforcement experience, currently serving as Chief of Police for the City of Manhattan Beach since January 1991, following a progression from Police Captain within the same department. Prior to this, Derrick Abell worked as a Deputy Sheriff with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department from December 1988 to January 1991. Educationally, Derrick Abell holds a Master's degree in Crisis/Emergency/Disaster Management from Trident University International (2013-2015) and a B.A. degree in Speech Communications from Montana State University-Bozeman (1983-1988).
