Carlos Vega has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Vega, started their career as a Vol. Firefighter at the Greenfield Fire Protection District in 2008 and later became a Fire Engineer, responding to emergencies and performing firefighter duties. In 2014, they joined Professional Security Consultants, Inc. as a Security Supervisor, where they provided high-quality security services and built relationships with clients. Additionally, Carlos worked as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher at American Medical Response from 2015 to 2021. Vega, also held positions at AlliedBarton Security Services as a Security Account Manager and at Macerich as a Security and Guest Services Manager and Assistant Security Manager. Carlos currently serves as the Division Fire Chief at the City of Marina since 2022 and is responsible for supervising and coordinating station duties, conducting training programs, and staying updated on fire suppression and prevention practices. Vega, has also worked as an Adjunct Faculty at Monterey Peninsula College since 2021.

Carlos Vega's education history includes multiple degrees and certifications. From 2000 to 2018, they attended Hartnell College, where they studied Administration of Justice. During this time, they did not obtain a specific degree. From 2002 to 2020, they also attended Monterey Peninsula College, where they earned an Associate of Arts and Sciences - AAS degree in Administration of Justice. Furthermore, from 2018 to 2021, Carlos attended Monterey Peninsula College again, this time studying Fire Systems Technology and obtaining an Associate of Arts and Sciences - AAS degree in that field.

In addition to their degrees, Carlos also holds two certifications. In January 2017, they became a CPR Instructor, certified by the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association. In July 2014, they obtained certification as an Emergency Medical Technician from the State of California-Emergency Medical Services Authority.
