Michael Black, AICP, currently serves as the City Manager and Community Development Director for the City of Moab since July 2023. Michael has co-owned BLACK OAK NEIGHBORHOOD DEVELOPMENT LLC, a comprehensive residential development firm, since March 2016. Prior experience includes serving as Executive Director of the Parks and Recreation Commission for the City of Ashland, OR from September 2014 to July 2023, and as Director of Community Development for the City of Grants Pass from September 2010 to September 2014, overseeing city planning, engineering, building, and parks. Additional roles include Director of Community Development in Cottonwood Heights, where Michael advised the city council on land use, and City Planner in Saratoga Springs, Utah. Michael holds a Master’s degree in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning and a Bachelor's degree in the same field, both from the University of Utah.
