Matthew Rempel is a skilled planning and environmental professional with extensive experience in various roles. Currently serving as a Subdivision Planner at the City of Nanaimo since February 2021, Matthew previously worked as a GIS/Planning Technician at the Village of Pemberton and as an Ecosystem Research Assistant for the BC Provincial Government. Notable expertise includes wildlife habitat assessment, conducting surveys, data management, and developing cooperative agreements with First Nations for wildlife conservation. Matthew's background also includes roles at Parks Canada and Natural Resources Canada, specializing in aquatic research, forestry mapping, and analytical chemistry. Matthew holds a Bachelor of Planning in Environmental Planning from the University of Northern British Columbia and a Bachelor’s Degree in Geography from the University of Victoria, complemented by a Technology Diploma in Environmental Engineering Technology from Camosun College.
