Kimberly Thomas

Kimberly Thomas currently serves as the Director of Human Services for the City of Newport News, beginning in August 2024. Previously, Kimberly held the position of Deputy Director at the Newport News Department of Human Services from July 2023 to August 2024, and was the Chief Community Engagement Officer at the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority from April 2013 to July 2023. Kimberly has extensive experience in leading organizational goal strategies, managing substantial funding programs, and fostering community engagement initiatives. With a background in program administration and community investment, Kimberly has effectively developed and implemented policies and programs that enhance internal workflows and strengthen community ties. Kimberly holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Strayer University-Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communication/Public Relations from Virginia Commonwealth University.
