Chad Tennis began their work experience as a Police Intern at the City of Miami, OK in 1998. Chad then worked as a Security Guard at Drury University from 1998 to 2000. In 1999, they joined the City of Clever as a Police Officer until 2000. Chad's most recent role was as the Deputy Chief of Police at the City of Nixa, where they started in 2000 and continues to serve in a leadership position, overseeing law enforcement and civilian staff.

Chad Tennis has a diverse education history in the field of Criminal Justice/Law Enforcement Administration. Chad holds a Master of Arts (MA) degree from Lincoln University of Missouri, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree from Columbia College, and an Associate of Arts (AA) degree from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College.

In addition to their academic achievements, Chad Tennis has obtained various certifications throughout their career. Chad completed the Missouri Police Chiefs Command College Certificate of Completion in 2016, and the ICS 400 - Advanced Incident Command and Executives System course offered by FEMA. In 2014, they earned the Missouri POST Certified Report Writing Specialist Instructor certification from the State of Missouri. Chad has also obtained certifications such as Child Abuse Investigative Team Training Certification from Child First, National Program Office in 2013, Certified Crime Scene Investigator (CCSI) from Missouri Southern State University in 2011, and Computer Forensic Examiner (100 Hour) Fast Track Program from NW3C, Inc. in the same year.

Reid & Associates, Inc. in 2005, Certified Field Training Officer from the City of Springfield, Missouri in 2004, and they are also a graduate of the Eastern Missouri Police Academy since 1999.
