Brooklyn Williams is an accomplished education and community safety leader with extensive experience in program management and development. Currently serving as Chief of Education & Community Safety for the City of Oakland since January 2023, Brooklyn previously held the position of Senior Advisor to the California Superintendent of Public Instruction at the California Department of Education. Brooklyn has also directed programs for organizations such as New Door Ventures and Freedom School at Camp Sweeney/Lincoln, demonstrating skills in collaborative planning, staff training, and program evaluation. Brooklyn's earlier roles include leadership positions at Oakland Freedom School and project management at Project Re-Connect, showcasing a commitment to youth empowerment and community engagement. Educational credentials include a Master’s Degree in Language and Literacy from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor's degree in Social Welfare with a minor in Education from the same institution.
