Alex Arnett

Commander Investigative Services at City of Oxnard

Alex Arnett began his career in 1990 as a Traffic Cadet. He was hired to become a Police Officer in 1996. Since then, Alex has worked a variety of assignments. In the Field Services Bureau, Alex served as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Traffic Officer, and as a Patrol Sergeant. In the Investigative Services Bureau, Alex served as a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Detective, Gang and Graffiti Investigator, Sergeant of the Violent Crimes Unit, and Major Crimes Sergeant. In the Administrative Services Bureau, Alex served as the Personnel and Training Sergeant. Alex also supervised the Department’s Trauma Support Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, Reserve Police Officer Unit, and Volunteer in Policing Services (VIPS) Unit.

In 2019, Alex earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice Management from Union Institute and University. Alex was selected as the Oxnard Police Department’s Officer of the Year in 2012, a recipient of the Oxnard Knights of Columbus Public Safety Award in 2013, and the Oxnard Police Department’s Supervisor of the Year in 2014. Alex is also an active member of the Kiwanis Club of Oxnard.

Alex was promoted to Commander in 2020 and was assigned as the Patrol Support Division Commander. Alex is currently the Investigative Services Bureau Commander. He oversees the Property Crimes Unit, Major Crimes Unit, Family Protection Unit, Violent Crimes Unit, Drug Enforcement Unit and the Crime Reduction Unit.
