Jason Nunemaker has extensive experience in municipal government and administration. Jason currently serves as the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the City of Plantation since May 2019.
Prior to their current role, Nunemaker was the City Manager for the City of Fellsmere from February 2005 to May 2019. In this position, they implemented the goals and vision of the City Council and also served as the Executive Director of the City's Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA).
Before their time in Fellsmere, Nunemaker worked as the Vice President of Corporate Development for Gehring Group from May 2003 to October 2004. Jason also held the position of Town Manager for the Town of Lake Park from November 2001 to May 2003.
Nunemaker's earlier experience includes various roles in the City of Dania Beach. Jason served as the Interim City Manager from March 2001 to October 2001, the Assistant City Manager from October 2000 to February 2001, and as the Assistant to the City Manager from August 1999 to October 2000.
Jason Nunemaker has a strong education background in Public Administration and Policy. Jason began their education journey in 1992 at James Madison University, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science (POSC) in 1994. Jason continued their studies at the same institution and obtained a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree in the field of Public Policy in 1996.
Following their time at James Madison University, Jason enrolled at Florida Atlantic University, where they pursued a PhD in Public Administration. Jason entered the program in 1996 and remained until 2006, making significant progress but ultimately did not complete the degree (ABD meaning "All But Dissertation").
In addition to their academic achievements, Jason Nunemaker also holds a certification as an ICMA Credentialed Manager, which they obtained from the ICMA - International City/County Management Association in April 2019.
