Mary Murray has over 18 years of experience in human resources and labour relations. Mary is currently serving as the Chief Human Resources Officer at the City of Port Colborne, where they play a strategic leadership role in developing and implementing human resources strategies. Prior to this, Mary worked at Niagara Health as a Labour Relations Consultant, where they were responsible for interpreting and administering collective agreements, negotiating contracts, and providing guidance to senior management. Mary also held positions at The St. Lawrence Seaway Management Corporation, London Health Sciences Centre, and St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital, where they focused on employee and labour relations, conducted complex investigations, and delivered training sessions. Additionally, Mary has experience as a Human Resources Business Partner at the City of London and DBG Canada Limited, and as a Staffing Specialist at Kelly Services. Throughout their career, Mary has demonstrated expertise in various HR and LR topics, including policy interpretation, grievance management, performance management, and health and safety.
Mary Murray obtained a Certificate in Human Resources Management from Fanshawe College in 2006. Mary then pursued an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from Western University, which they completed between 1996 and 2001. Mary continued their education at Queen's University, where they earned a Master of Industrial Relations degree from 2018 to 2021.
Alongside their formal education, Mary has also obtained various certifications. These include a CHRL certification from HRPA - Human Resources Professionals Association, a Collaborative Conflict Resolution certification from Western University, and a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach certification. Additionally, they have obtained certifications in JHSC membership from the Occupational Safety Group and Mental Health First Aid from the Mental Health Commission of Canada.
