Peter Helzer

Peter Helzer has extensive experience in both military and law enforcement sectors. Currently serving in the Oregon Army National Guard since October 1997, Peter has held various leadership positions, including Brigade Commander, Deputy Chief of Staff, and Battalion Commander, along with operational roles such as Operations Officer and Brigade Fire Support Officer. Peter has also completed a Master's degree in Military Strategic Studies at the United States Army War College. In addition to military service, Peter has been a Police Lieutenant and Force Inspector for the City of Portland since January 2002, with prior roles as Patrol Supervisor and Police Officer. Peter's early career included roles at Portland Parks and Recreation as a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor, demonstrating a commitment to community service and safety. Peter holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Portland.
