Nancy Carmer serves as the Assistant City Manager for Economic Development in Portsmouth, NH, since June 1998. In this role, responsibilities encompass collaborating with the City’s Economic Development Commission on policies, business retention efforts, and the implementation of the economic development goals outlined in the City Master Plan. Additionally, Nancy oversees the Portsmouth Economic Development Loan Program and the administration of economic revitalization zones, while engaging with businesses looking to relocate or expand, as well as various local business associations. Previously, Nancy worked as a Loan Credit Analyst for Granite State Development Corporation from 1985 to 1990, focusing on US SBA 504 Loan applications and portfolio servicing. Nancy holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from Allegheny College, with concentrations in economics and environmental impact analysis, incorporating a biology focus.
