Maureen McManus (Mo)

Maureen "Mo" McManus has a diverse work experience in various roles and companies. Maureen "Mo" has worked as the Deputy Director of Public Works at the City of Providence since May 2021. Prior to that, they worked as the Associate Director of Environmental Services for the City of Providence from December 2019 to April 2021.

Before their time at the City of Providence, Mo served as a Business Development Manager at ISM Solar Development, LLC from January 2019 to December 2019. Maureen "Mo" also worked in business development at NuGen Capital Management from November 2017 to November 2018.

In addition to their roles in the private sector, Mo has held positions in environmental services and sustainability in the public sector. Maureen "Mo" was the Clean City Coordinator for the City of Newport from March 2015 to October 2017 and the Recycling Coordinator for the Town of Smithfield from March 2014 to March 2015.

Mo has also gained experience in customer relations at Farm Fresh Rhode Island from May 2013 to February 2014 and as a Green Business Specialist at the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection/Center for EcoTechnology from July 2012 to June 2013.

Prior to their career in environmental services, Mo worked in sustainability at Antioch University Seattle (AUS) from October 2009 to July 2011 and as a Waste Diversion Manager at the University California San Diego (UCSD) from September 2008 to August 2009.

Maureen "Mo" McManus has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies/Sociology from Northeastern University. Maureen "Mo" also holds a Master of Arts degree in Ecological Planning/Environment & Community/Integrated Skills for Sustainable Change, which they obtained from Antioch University Seattle. Additionally, they have a Certificate in Master Composter & Recycler from the University of Rhode Island.
