Lauren Surley

Lauren Surley has a diverse work experience in the field of communications and media. Lauren is currently serving as the Director of Communications & Intergovernmental Relations for the City of San Marcos, a position they started in October 2021. Prior to this, they worked as the Vice President of Communications for the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce from March 2020 to October 2021, where they managed media relations, social media accounts, and marketing campaigns. Before that, they worked as the Community Outreach Coordinator for the City of San Marcos, where they focused on marketing strategies, public information campaigns, and community outreach from December 2018 to March 2020.

Earlier in their career, Lauren worked as a News Reporter for KXAN-TV, the top-rated television news station in Austin, from March 2016 to December 2018. Lauren was responsible for writing, shooting, and editing their own stories, with a focus on local government, elections, crime, and school policy. Lauren gained experience in producing web, social media, and broadcast content.

Prior to their work at KXAN-TV, Lauren worked as a Reporter/Fill-in Anchor for CBS7 from August 2013 to January 2016. Lauren'sresponsibilities included producing content for web, social media, and broadcast, with a focus on hard news, investigative stories, crime, and education.

Lauren's earlier experience includes working as a Reporter/Weekend Anchor for KSAN from August 2012 to April 2013. In this role, they produced daily content for web, social media, and broadcast, and handled all aspects of weekend newscasts.
