Assistant EMS Chief at City of Schertz

Mike Shown has a diverse work experience in the public service and emergency medical field. Mike started their career as a Firefighter/Paramedic at Canyon Lake Fire EMS in 1994, holding various positions such as Assistant EMS Administrator and Shift Officer. In 1998, they participated in the merger between Canyon Lake EMS and Canyon Lake Vol. Fire Department to form Canyon Lake Fire EMS.

Mike then worked as a Deputy Sheriff at Comal County Sheriff's Office from April 1999 to January 2009. After that, they joined San Antonio AirLife as a Flight Paramedic from February 2003 to March 2013. During this time, they also served as an Adjunct Instructor at UTHSCSA from 2006 to 2013.

In 2008, Mike became a Board Member at the International Association of Flight and Critical Care Paramedics until October 2014. Mike then joined the City of Schertz as the EMS Division Chief (Clinical) in March 2013. Currently, they are working as a Deputy Fire Marshal at the Guadalupe County Fire Marshal's Office since June 2021.

Mike Shown has pursued their education in various fields. Mike obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Health Science from UT Health San Antonio, although the specific duration of this program is not provided. Additionally, they are currently pursuing a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from Columbia Southern University, expected to be completed in 2022.

In addition to their formal education, Mike Shown has obtained several certifications. Mike completed training as an Active Attack Integrated Response Instructor at the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) institution in December 2022.
