Dunc Sargent has a comprehensive work experience in software development, with a focus on CADD (Computer-Aided Design and Drafting) development. Dunc started their career in 1983 as a Software Development Engineer at Atlantus Systems / Newport Systems and then worked at IVS (Interactive Video Systems) as a Software Development Engineer from 1985 to 1987. In 1987, they joined Digital Equipment Corporation in the same role until 1994. From 1994 to 1999, Dunc provided contract software development services to various companies including Autodesk, Inc. and Stratus / Isis Distributed Systems, where they worked on a wide range of projects in Windows User Interface Design, large scale data management infrastructure design, and online virtual text based game development. Dunc then joined Autodesk, Inc. in 1999 as a Senior Software Development Engineer and worked there until 2013. Following this, they worked at Tinkeri, Inc. as a Senior Software Development Engineer from 2013 to 2016. In 2016, Dunc joined the City of Seattle as Seattle's Lead CADD Developer (Solution Architect) and played a key role in designing CADD and CADD Administration tools that support engineering departments within the city.

Dunc Sargent attended Sunapee Jr. Sr. High School from 1977 to 1981, earning a Bachelor of Cool degree in English and Performing Arts. From 1981 to 1984, they studied Computer Science at the University of New Hampshire (UNH).
