Mike Fields, JD, SHRM-SCP has a strong background in human resources and labor negotiations. Mike has worked for the City of Seattle since 2002, holding various roles including Executive Director of Human Resources, Director of Human Resources, Labor Negotiator, and Employment Risk Manager. In these positions, they have been responsible for a wide range of HR initiatives such as labor and employee relations, leadership development, talent acquisition, budget management, performance management, EEO investigations, change management, HRIS, payroll/benefits, budget and contract management, strategic planning/change management, classification/compensation, and aligning strategic HR efforts with departmental missions. Mike has also focused on equity, diversity, and inclusion in their work. Prior to their work with the City of Seattle, Mike practiced law in a private firm from 1996 to 2002.
Mike Fields, JD, SHRM-SCP, holds a Doctor of Law (JD) degree from the University of San Diego School of Law. Mike also has a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Finance from San Diego State University. Additionally, Mike is a Certified Mediator from the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. Mike has obtained a Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion for HR from Cornell University and completed an Interest Based Dispute Resolution program offered by the Inter-Local Conflict Resolution Group. Mike is also a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) from the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
