Craig S. has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Craig began their career in the United States Marine Corps, where they served as a Sergeant from 1996 to 2000. Following their military service, they joined the Stevenson Center for Community and Economic Development at Illinois State University as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and later as a Brownfields Redevelopment Fellow. In 2006, they joined the Community Development Commission of Mendocino County and held various roles, including Community Development Specialist, Community Development Manager, and Development and Sustainability Manager. Since 2017, they have been serving as the Director of Community Development at the City of Ukiah, where they have expanded the department and worked with a highly engaged team.

Craig S. completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Economics at Illinois State University from 2000 to 2002. Later, from 2005 to 2007, they pursued a Master's degree in Applied Economics, specializing in the Community and Economic Development Sequence at the same institution.
