Tony Alston has a diverse background in urban planning and community development. Tony'smost recent position is as the Director of Community Development for the City of Union City Government. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Planner and Interim Assistant Director of Planning & Community Development for the City of East Point. Tony also held the position of Senior Planner for the City of Sandy Springs. Before moving to Georgia, Tony worked as a Facilities Planner for Baltimore City Public Schools. Tony also worked as an Urban Planner for Harford County Government and the Regional Planning Commission of Greater Birmingham. In addition, Tony has experience as a Community Development Specialist/Planner for the Institute for Urban Research, an Economic Development Specialist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, and an Economic Development Specialist for the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development.

Tony Alston completed their Bachelor's degree in Architecture at Morgan State University - School of Architecture + Planning from 2007 to 2011. Tony then pursued a Master of City & Regional Planning degree at the same institution from 2012 to 2015.
