Jumaine Samuels

Jumaine Samuels has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Jumaine started their career as an Engineering Technician at Halsted Communications in 2006. Jumaine then worked as a Mail Clerk at the United States Postal Service before joining BMW of North America, LLC as a Service Assistant in 2007.

In 2013, Jumaine joined Design Within Reach, where they initially worked as an IT intern. During this time, they handled various IT tasks assigned by the IT Manager, managed Active Directory objects, and provided support for hardware, software, and network-related issues. Jumaine also performed server operations and maintenance tasks and provided support for network devices.

Within the same company, Jumaine later took on the roles of Helpdesk Analyst, Infrastructure Engineer, and VoIP Engineer. As a Helpdesk Analyst, they installed, optimized, and configured servers and application upgrades in existing network environments. Jumaine also provided on-site tech support at different studio locations and remote desktop support.

As an Infrastructure Engineer, Jumaine designed and built VoIP infrastructure, including voice switches, operating systems, and security controls. Jumaine managed the production and development server farm and maintained backups and logs. In their role as a VoIP Engineer, they updated and patched servers while ensuring their proper functioning.

Most recently, Jumaine joined the City of West Haven in 2021 as the Director of Information Technology. In this role, they are responsible for all aspects of IT, including cybersecurity functions, service desk operations, and system administration activities. Jumaine also plays a key role in developing information systems and infrastructure strategies and standards.

Jumaine Samuels completed their high school education at Stratford High School from 2001 to 2005, where they received a General high school diploma. Jumaine then pursued higher education at Post University from 2010 to 2013, where they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance.
