Janelle Octavia Silva has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Janelle began their career as a Circulation Clerk at the Skokie Public Library in 2001. Later, they served as the Farmers' Market Manager at the Skokie Farmers' Market, where they were responsible for vendor selection, certification, and market operations. In their role as an Administrative Assistant and Staff Liaison to the Consumer Affairs Commission at the Village of Skokie, Janelle supported marketing and communication efforts and coordinated consumer activities. Janelle then joined Fitness Formula Clubs as a Fitness Instructor, where they provided indoor cycling instruction and utilized music to create an exciting atmosphere. Janelle also worked as a Certified Running Coach for the Road Runners Club of America, supporting runners of all levels. Currently, they serve as the Director of Community Relations at the City of Wood Dale, overseeing communications, special events, and community outreach. Overall, Janelle has demonstrated their ability to excel in administrative roles, event coordination, community engagement, and fitness instruction throughout their career.

The City of Wood Dale is a northwest suburban community of approximately 13,000 residents. Incorporated in 1928, it became a city in 1970. Wood Dale has a daytime population of over 35,000. The City is surrounded by three golf courses and many acres of forest preserves. Eight aldermen elected from four wards and a mayor elected at large see to the needs of Wood Dale residents while a professional city manager and staff see to day to day operations. The City is currently involved in numerous projects to improve the look, safety and quality of life in and around town.
