Carrie Melago is an experienced journalist with a strong background in educational coverage and newsroom management. Currently serving as the Managing Editor for Local News at Chalkbeat since March 2018, Carrie oversees daily and enterprise coverage across New York, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, and Newark. Previously, Carrie held roles at The Wall Street Journal, including Editor of Training and Digital Editor for Greater New York, where responsibilities included managing newsroom training programs and directing digital operations. Carrie's career also includes significant contributions to the New York Daily News as Assistant City Editor and News Reporter at the New Haven Register. Academic credentials include a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism from the University of Maryland and a Master's Degree in American Studies from Columbia University.
