HUD Community Planning & Development Technical Assistance Provider at Civix

Diana Searl has a diverse and extensive work experience history. In 2007, they served as a Center for Public Health Policy Intern at the American Public Health Association, where they overhauled a database and assessed program submissions for accuracy and congruency. From 2010 to 2011, they worked at Rebuilding Together New Orleans as Field Operations - NRPP/LHFA and House Captain - Americorps, overseeing field operations and leading house projects. At Broadmoor Development Corporation from 2011 to 2014, they served as the Director of Program Operations, managing community development initiatives and implementing programs focused on affordable housing and elderly homeowners. From 2014 to 2016, they were a Research Assistant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), contributing to the Resilient Cities Housing Initiative. In 2016, Diana joined Project Homecoming as the Director of Operations and Real Estate Development, later becoming the Interim Executive Director. Their responsibilities included overseeing various real estate development lines and leading funding, financing, compliance, and reporting efforts. Lastly, at Civix since 2017, they have held the roles of HUD Community Planning & Development Technical Assistance Provider and Project Manager and Affordable Housing SME. In these roles, they have managed federal disaster recovery funds, developed programs for local governments, and generated new financing mechanisms for small-scale affordable housing.

Diana Searl holds a Master's Degree in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which they obtained from 2014 to 2016. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy with a specialization in International Sustainable Development at the University of Michigan. Diana pursued their undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan from 2005 to 2009.
