Kris Stokking has a comprehensive work experience in software engineering and leadership roles. They are currently serving as the SVP of Software Engineering at Class since 2022. Prior to that, they held the position of Vice President of Software Engineering at Blackboard from 2017 to 2022. In this role, they were responsible for product development and delivery for Blackboard's Learning Management System and played a key role in enhancing the product scalability during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Before joining Blackboard, Kris Stokking worked as the Sr. Director of Site Reliability Engineering and Senior Director of DevOps Engineering. In these roles, they managed AWS operating budgets, led cost governance and capacity planning, and oversaw deployments in multiple AWS regions. They also expanded the AWS footprint into China and South Korea and led cost reduction efforts.
Earlier in their career, Kris Stokking worked at Blackboard Open LMS as the Senior Director of Product Development and Customer Support and Systems Administrator. They were responsible for the development and maintenance of Joule, a feature-enhanced version of Moodle, and managed and upgraded customized Moodle sites.
Kris Stokking began their career as a Senior Developer at Vision Multimedia Technologies, LLC. They gained experience in web application development using LAMP and Microsoft technologies and were recognized for their development skills, team management, and customer service.
Kris Stokking earned a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Computer Science from The Johns Hopkins University, where they studied from 1999 to 2003.
