Joshua Shirey

Joshua Shirey has a diverse work experience. From 2021 to present, they have been working at EdSights as the Director of Partnerships and Business Development Representative. In 2021, they also became a Lead Teacher at Democracy Prep Public Schools, where they adapted Math and Science curriculum to meet state standards and led Math and Science instruction for the 3rd-grade team. In 2020, they were a Resident Teacher (Graduate Student) at Yu Ming Charter School, where they implemented UDL strategies to ensure all scholars had access to the curriculum in a way that promoted their academic growth and success. From 2018 to 2020, they were a 4th Grade Teacher at The Geneva School, where they instructed in the classical method and honed in on interpersonal skills to build teacher-parent relationships. From 2017 to 2018, they were a 3rd Grade Teacher at Shenyang International School, where they initiated PowerSchool training implementation sessions for the lower school team and designed the curriculum for 11 English Language Learners. In 2015, they worked as a Landscaper Assistant at Biola University. From 2014 to 2015, they were a Team Leader at the National School Project, where they oversaw the growth of Christian clubs at four different high schools, coached and mentored college students, and led fundraising campaigns.

Joshua Shirey obtained a Bachelor of Arts - BA in Theology/Theological Studies from Biola University between 2013 and 2017. Joshua then went on to obtain a Master of Arts - MA in Education from Alder Graduate School of Education in 2021. In addition to their degrees, Joshua Shirey has obtained a number of certifications, including a Python for Everybody certification from the University of Michigan in 2023, a Salesforce Sales Operations certification from Pathstream in 2023, a Google Data Analytics Certificate from Coursera in 2022, a TESOL/TESL/TEFL certification from Oxford Seminars in 2017, and a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing in 2021.
