Tom Butkovich is a seasoned law enforcement professional with extensive experience, currently serving as a Detective at the Clay County Sheriff's Office since August 2021 and as a Police Academy Instructor at the Metropolitan Community College Public Safety Institute. Previous roles include Drug Task Force Officer with the Jackson County Drug Task Force and Patrol Sergeant at the Sugar Creek Police Department, where responsibilities included managing FBI task force operations and serving as a hostage negotiator. Tom also worked for the FBI as a Task Force Officer and has significant investigative experience from earlier roles as a Detective and Field Training Officer. Tom Butkovich holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Central Missouri, graduating as valedictorian.
