Nick Aberle

Director, Energy Generation & Storage at Clean Energy Council

Nick Aberle is the Director for Energy Generation & Storage at the Clean Energy Council. Nick has dedicated their career to fighting for environmental causes and has a long track record of success in this area.

Most recently, Nick served as the Campaigns Manager at Environment Victoria from November 2013 to November 2021. In this role, Nick was responsible for developing and implementing EV’s campaigns to achieve policy outcomes and shift public sentiment on climate change, energy and environmental issues. Nick led EV’s engagement with key stakeholders including the public service, political offices, civil society organisations, unions, industry associations, analysts, and community groups. Nick also oversaw the work of up to 5 direct reports.

Prior to their work at Environment Victoria, Nick served as a Senior Policy Analyst at the Commissioner for Environmental Sustainability from October 2010 to August 2013. In this role, they were responsible for providing policy advice on a range of environmental issues including climate change, renewable energy, energy efficiency, resources, circular economy, biodiversity, and water management.

Nick began their career as a Post-doctoral Fellow at the Bio21 Institute from April 2010 to September 2010. In this role, they conducted research on the environmental impacts of nanotechnology.

Nick has a deep commitment to protecting the environment and has demonstrated their ability to successfully advocate for change on a variety of environmental issues. Nick is a respected leader in the environmental community and is well-positioned to continue to make progress on these important issues in their current role at the Clean Energy Council.

Nick Aberle has a Master of Laws (LLM) from Melbourne Law School, a PhD in Chemistry from the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, and an LLB (Hons) and BSc (Hons) from the University of Melbourne. Nick attended Wesley College.

They work with Anna Sexton - Executive General Manager, Corporate Services, Meredith Gardner - Operations Manager, and Anita Talberg - Workforce Development Manager. Nick Aberle reports to Kane Thornton, CEO.
