Dr. James Mercer is a Chartered Engineer and member of the Institute of Chemical Engineering and the Institute of Food Science and Technology, with extensive experience in bioprocess engineering and manufacturing technology. Currently serving as Head of Manufacturing Technology at Clean Food Group since June 2023, Dr. Mercer focuses on sustainable palm oil production and technology transfer. Previous roles include Bioprocess Engineering Manager at Marlow Ingredients, where technical project management and leadership in fermentation processes were key responsibilities, and Manufacturing Technology - R&D and Process Manager at ENOUGH, emphasizing pilot plant operations and scale-up processes. Dr. Mercer's career includes positions at notable companies such as Croda Europe Ltd, Biohydrogen Ltd, and Tate and Lyle, complemented by a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Birmingham and various roles in consulting and academia.
