The Role:

We are looking to hire a Head of Stock Loan for our UK and Europe business. This will be an opportunity for an experienced securities lending professional to come in to help shape and build this business line. You will be responsible for building out the Stock Loan team and product and will manage the negotiation and facilitation of borrowing, lending and synthetic transactions between various market participants. Reporting into the CEO for Clear Street UK entity, you will be the business head for the stock loan desk in the UK, responsible for developing the stock loan product and supporting the firm as it grows Its international prime brokerage business across the UK and Europe. 

The Team:

Clear Street’s mission is to become a single-source platform that serves a variety of investor types across multiple asset classes on a global scale. The Clear Street U.K. team is bringing Clear Street’s established equities, options, and fixed-income prime brokerage business to a new market.

Responsibilities:

  • Senior stock loan lead for the UK regulated entity, supporting the senior management team in their business objectives across UK and Europe
  • Build, establish and lead the stock loan team within the UK and Europe
  • Work with internal teams to ensure all procedures and controls are documented and implemented
  • Risk management of the firm’s inventory positions on a daily basis
  • Understand and navigate the structural and regulatory environment
  • Optimisation of inventory through corporate actions and funding 
  • Price and trade synthetic borrow via equity derivatives. 
  • Collaborate with internal desk in order to project desk funding requirements. 
  • Risk Manage the FX, Interest Rates, XCCY and Equity risk of the firm. 
  • Maintain awareness of all economic and financial data and any other important factors (e.g. macroeconomic) likely to affect the client base and products being marketed

Skills required:

  • At least ten (10) years of experience and extensive knowledge in the areas of Securities Lending, Repo, Equity Swaps, Funding Instruments, FX and Interest Rate products 
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Economics, or related field
  • Deep understanding of the legal documentation required for Securities Lending and Repo
  • Confident communicator with the ability to quickly build relationships with external clients and counterparties, and internal stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of equity derivatives (swaps/futures), equity and FICC markets with solid knowledge of market competition 
  • Experienced people leader with a strong work ethic who can build and develop high performing teams 
  • Analytic approach with attention to detail
