Hannah Thiel

Design & Fabrication Engineer at ClearFlame Engines

Hannah Thiel has had a range of work experiences, starting as a front desk receptionist at a salon and spa in 2017. In 2020, they became an Engineering 100 TA at the University of Illinois Chicago, and was also a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Swarm Robotix in 2018. From 2015 to 2019, they served as Team Captain for Team 2704 at FIRST Robotics, where they designed various mechanisms to lift and move objects, and developed the team's branding strategy. In 2021, they became a SEES Professional Development Intern for the UIC Energy Initiative, where they developed and launched professional development programs and regularly updated the organization's website. During the same year, they also became a Machine Shop Aide at the University of Illinois Chicago Makerspace, where they taught machining skills to other students and created training videos. In 2022, they interned at Smith and Richardson Inc., where they gained experience in fabrication and design. In 2023, they will begin a new role as a Design & Fabrication Engineer at ClearFlame Engine Technologies.

Hannah Thiel graduated from Batavia Sr High School in 2019. In the same year, they started pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Illinois Chicago, which they expect to complete in 2023. Hannah has also completed several certification courses, including Communicating with Confidence, Resume Makeover, and Writing Email, all of which were obtained in September 2019 from LinkedIn.
