Bioinformatics Data Scientist at Clearnote Health

Michael Kesling has a long history of working in bioinformatics and related fields. Michael began their career in 1998 as a Principal Scientist in Computational Biology at Applied Biosystems. Michael then moved on to Eastern Washington University in 2009, where they worked as a Lecturer in Chemistry and Biochemistry, teaching general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry and bioinformatics to undergraduate and masters students, and supervising students in bioinformatics projects. In 2014, they took on the role of Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at Universidad de Costa Rica, where they worked on mechanisms that maintain a steady transcript level across cancer cells that vary their copy number. In 2018, they became a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at the University of Southern California, and in 2020 they took on the role of Bioinformatics Data Scientist at Bluestar Genomics, Inc - Precision Epigenomic Medicine, as well as Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at PACT Pharma.

Michael Kesling obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Biochemistry from Stanford University between 1990 and 1997. Michael then completed a Postdoctoral Associate program in Genome Sciences/Genomics at Stanford University from 1997 to 1998. Additionally, they have obtained certifications from Coursera Course Certificates, edX, and Johns Hopkins in Algorithms, Bioconductor, Digital Networks, Getting and Cleaning Data, High-Dimensional Data Analysis, Introduction to Computational Thinking and Data Science, Introduction to Computer Science and Programming Using Python, Introduction to Linear Models and Matrix Algebra, Mathematical Proofs, Linear Differential Equations, Machine Learning, Managing Big Data with MySQL, Mathematical Biostatistics I, Mathematical Biostatistics II, Nonlinear Differential Equations, Probability Graphical Models, and Regression Models.
