Simon Hamel began their work experience in 2010 as an intern at ORPI. In 2014, they worked as a clerk at Crédit Agricole Centre Loire Bank. In 2016, they had a blue-collar internship at Safran Aircraft Engines. In 2017, they worked as a junior mechanical engineer at DTU Wind Energy and as a junior engineer in a school/company project at ISAE-ENSMA/Safran Aircraft Engine, where they focused on crack propagation modeling. In 2018, they worked as a junior NDT and vibrations engineer at Safran Helicopter Engines, where they contributed to projects involving innovative non-destructive testing methods. In 2019, they worked as an MBSE consulting engineer at ALTEN for Airbus projects, focusing on system and interface design. Simon also worked as a consulting engineer at Airbus for DMU integration. From 2018 to 2019, they also worked as a farm worker at Farm. From 2020 to 2023, they worked at EPFL Space Center as a systems engineer, involved in various projects, including ClearSpace SA and ESA's ADRIOS mission, where they contributed to the implementation of MBSE tools and methods and participated in system modeling and requirements management. Currently, they are employed as a mission system engineer at ClearSpace.
Simon Hamel has a diverse education history. Simon obtained their A-Level (Baccalauréat) in Science from Lycée Durzy high school in 2013. After that, from 2013 to 2015, they attended CPGE Lycée Pothier, where they pursued Preparatory Classes to graduate schools with a focus on Physics and Mathematics. Simon then went on to complete their Double degree in Aeronautics and Space, specializing in the "Aeronautical and land transport" course, at Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Mécanique et d'Aérotechnique from 2017 to 2018. During the same period, they also studied at ISAE-ENSMA and obtained a Master's Degree in Engineering, mechanics, and Aeronautics. In 2021, Simon studied Technologies Spatiales as an Auditeur at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) for a year.
In addition to their academic qualifications, Simon has acquired several certifications. Simon obtained a Diplôme d'ingénieur from ISAE-ENSMA in September 2018, a Master TAT from ISAE-ENSMA and Université de Poitiers in September 2018, and a verified certificate for Space Mission Design and Operations from EPFL on edX in May 2021. Simon has also completed courses on Reliability Engineering Statistics, An Introduction to Reliability Engineering, and Reliability and Maintenance Engineering - FMEA through Udemy, obtaining certificates in January 2023, October 2022, and October 2022, respectively. Furthermore, they have certifications in CAMEO - MAGICDRAW et son Simulation Toolkit from Aelion in June 2020 and Managing the Company of the Future from the University of London in May 2020.
