Karl Chopelas

Karl Chopelas is currently a Data Analytics & Viz Consultant at Cleartelligence. Prior to that, they were the Data Analytics Lead at ICE from January 2017 to February 2018. In that role, they led a five-person global team of data analysts responsible for building user-friendly Tableau dashboards and Alteryx workflows to extract and blend data from different sources. Karl also monitored dashboard performance and usage metrics to prioritize the team’s workload and provided Tableau training to internal end users and developers.

Before their role at ICE, Karl was the Tableau Dashboard Administrator at the City of Boston from December 2015 to December 2016. In that role, they managed the Tableau Server environment with multiple servers, the Tableau user base of 40+ developers and 100+ interactors in all city departments, and the Tableau screens in Mayor Walsh’s office, as well as in the offices of other Cabinet Chiefs. Karl also maintained a vast library of Tableau workbooks and dashboards published on multiple servers in multiple departments. Karl consulted with department leaders throughout the city to design and build dashboards and collaborated with civic leaders worldwide to share Tableau and general analytics technologies and methodologies. Karl provided training on Tableau and analytics best practices for all departments throughout the city and managed the City of Boston Tableau Public site.

Karl Chopelas has a B.A. in German Literature and Business Management from Brigham Young University as well as certification from SixSigma.us in Six Sigma Green Belt. Karl also attended Gymnasium Oberalster.
