Alex Carter is a Graduate Student Researcher at Clemson BTRL and TE Lab, focusing on developing in vitro models for diabetic cardiomyopathy and investigating the effects of diabetes mellitus on fibroblast function. Alongside research, Alex serves as a Graduate Student Government Senator and Graduate Teaching Assistant at Clemson University, teaching Intro to Biology labs for Biological Science majors. Previous roles at Clemson University include a Judicial Board Member and Senate Parliamentarian, where Alex contributed to case verdicts related to the student Code of Conduct and facilitated communication between the Senate and Judicial branches. As a Resident Assistant, Alex fostered a supportive community for freshmen STEM students while also engaging in undergraduate research on genetic engineering applications. Alex holds a Master of Science in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Clemson University.
