Richard Sabberton-Coe

Richard Sabberton-Coe is the current General Counsel and Company Secretary at GLH Hotels. Prior to this, they were the Director of Legal Services at The Rank Group plc from September 1997 to April 2019. In this role, they managed an in-house legal team of 9 and was responsible for commercial, employment, real estate, data protection, disputes, and IP for a FTSE250 retail and digital business based in the UK, Spain, Gibraltar, and Belgium. Richard was also the Data Protection Officer for the group from 1999-2014 & 2016-2018 and played a key role in implementing both the Data Protection Act 1998 and GDPR.

Richard has extensive experience in acquisition and disposal of companies, businesses, and properties, outsourcing, and systems (SAAS/PAAS) as the group has re-shaped considerably over time. Richard is also a long-standing trustee for the various pensions, life, and health schemes. Prior to their role at The Rank Group plc, Richard was a Solicitor at Richards Butler from February 1995 to August 1997.

Richard Sabberton-Coe has a degree in law from the University of Reading and a postgraduate degree in legal practice from York College of Law.
