Senior Manager Of Basketball Communications at Cleveland Cavaliers

Sam Coombs has a diverse work experience in the sports industry. Sam started as a Camera Operator for the NBA Development League in 2014. Sam then worked as a Guest Services Agent for the Cleveland Browns in 2015. In the same year, they also joined Little League International as a Communications Staff for the Senior Little League World Series. Sam coordinated interviews, collected statistical information, and helped host the tournament. In 2016, they worked as a Production & Operations Assistant at FOX Sports, where they assisted with pre and post game broadcasts for the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Cavaliers.

In 2017, Sam Coombs became a Media Relations Coordinator for USA Baseball, managing social media accounts and contributing to media content. Sam also worked at Kent State University as an Athletic Communications Assistant, updating stats and writing press releases, and as a Media Production Assistant, providing assistance in TV production at sporting events.

In 2019, Sam Coombs joined the Arizona Diamondbacks as a Player & Media Relations Intern, where they compiled daily media clips and assisted with game notes. Sam also worked for the Phoenix Mercury as part of the Basketball Communications Gameday Staff, handling press table set-up, interviewing players and coaches, and transcribing quotes.

In 2021, Sam Coombs worked as a Communications Intern for USA Basketball, assisting in publicizing basketball teams and managing social media. Finally, in 2022, they joined the Cleveland Cavaliers as a Basketball Communications Manager, responsible for managing credential operations, facilitating interviews, and producing game notes and media guides.

Throughout their career, Sam Coombs has gained experience in various aspects of sports communications, including media relations, social media management, and event coordination.

Sam Coombs attended Mt Ararat High School in Topsham, Maine from 2009 to 2013. Following high school, they enrolled at Southern Maine Community College from 2013 to 2014, where they studied Communications & New Media with a focus on Sports Media. After completing their studies at Southern Maine Community College, Sam then pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Digital Media Production at Kent State University from 2014 to 2018.
