John Lang, PE has extensive work experience in various leadership roles related to design, construction, and management of physical assets. Starting in 1991, they served as a Deck Watch Officer for the U.S. Coast Guard, responsible for navigation and law enforcement missions. From 1995 to 2016, they held multiple positions within the Coast Guard, including Construction Project Engineer and Deputy Commander, managing infrastructure projects and programs. In 2016, they joined Cuyahoga Community College as the Director of Design, Construction, and Planning, overseeing capital construction projects. Since 2020, they have been the Chief Operating Officer of the Cleveland Public Library, leading their buildings team and managing ongoing construction and maintenance programs. John Lang's expertise lies in project management, budgeting, and coordination with stakeholders to ensure efficient project delivery.

John Lang, PE has a strong educational background in civil engineering. John obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the US Coast Guard Academy, where they studied from 1987 to 1991. Later, they pursued higher education and completed a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1993 to 1994.

In addition to their formal education, John has obtained several certifications to further enhance their professional expertise. John became a Professional Engineer (PE) in both the State of Rhode Island in January 1999 and the State of Ohio in January 2016. John also holds a Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification from the Association of Energy Engineers, which they obtained in October 2012. Furthermore, John is a Project Management Professional (PMP), as certified by the Project Management Institute in October 2010.
