Sebastian D. Bechtel

Sebastian D. Bechtel is an experienced environmental lawyer and policy advisor, currently serving as the Environmental Democracy Lead at ClientEarth since May 2018. Their previous roles include Senior Law and Policy Advisor and Environmental Democracy Lawyer at the same organization, as well as a legal expert with the Aarhus Convention Secretariat under the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. Bechtel has coordinated climate change projects for the Centre for International Sustainable Development Law and worked as an external legal expert for the European Environmental Bureau. Educational qualifications include a Master of Laws (LLM) from the University of Cambridge and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Groningen, complemented by an Honours Degree from the same institution.
