Debbie Liu

Debbie Liu currently serves as the Legal Director at ClimateWorks Foundation, providing chief in-house legal counsel for a global climate nonprofit since November 2024. Previously, Liu held the position of Associate General Counsel at SEIU from May 2023 to November 2024. From January 2016 to February 2023, Liu was the Vice President & General Counsel for The Wilderness Society, and from July 2003 to January 2016, Liu served as General Counsel and Senior Attorney for People For the American Way. Early career experiences include roles as Senior Litigation Attorney at Murphy, Falcon & Murphy from 2000 to 2002 and Assistant General Counsel at the NAACP from 1998 to 2000. Liu earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from UCLA and a Juris Doctor from the University of Maryland School of Law.
