Lead Design Engineer at Climeworks

Aldo Cattano has a diverse range of work experience in the field of renewable energy. Aldo started their career at En-Eco Spa as a Technical Consultant in 2009 and then moved on to ARI Green Energy, Inc. in the same year, where they worked as a Wind Turbine Designer and also obtained an international patent for their innovative micro wind turbine design. Aldo continued their involvement in the wind energy sector as a Structural Composite Designer at Carlo Gavazzi Space SPA in 2011. In 2013, Aldo worked as a Technical Consultant at KiteGen Research S.r.l. and joined Suwis sagl as a Technical Specialist, providing consultancy services in designing mini wind turbines and smart grid photovoltaic plants.

In 2014, they became a Business Consultant at Eusag srl. From 2010 to 2014, Aldo served as the R&D director at Penta Systems, where they led a project involving the design, prototyping, testing, and production of a mini wind turbine and obtained an international patent for a control mechanism.

Aldo's most recent position was as the Chief Technology Officer at Skypull from 2017 to 2022, where they managed the product development of an innovative high altitude wind turbine, led a team of engineers, and obtained several national and international patents in the wind energy field. Aldo then worked as an Independent Consultant from September 2022 to March 2023 before joining Climeworks as a Lead Design Engineer in April 2023.

Aldo Cattano earned a Master's degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical and Astronautical/Space Engineering from Politecnico di Torino, where they studied from 1989 to 1995. Prior to that, they attended Liceo scientifico Enrico Fermi - Padova from 1984 to 1989, where they obtained a grade of 51/60 in mathematics, physics, and literature.
