Marcus Brown

VP of Clinical Services at Clinical Solutions Pharmacy

Dr. Marcus Brown received a Bachelor’s degree in Human Nutrition and Hospitality Management from the University of Alabama prior to earning a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy. His graduate level education emphasized clinical aspects of pharmacy practice. He continues to be active in the academic setting acting as an adjunct professor for the McWhorter School of Pharmacy, University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy, and Belmont University College of Pharmacy. Dr. Brown also serves as a member of the Belmont University Experiential Education Advisory Counsel.

He is responsible for establishing and managing clinical programs for our clients consisting of therapeutic reviews and interventions, drug utilization evaluations, pharmacokinetic services, formulary optimization initiatives, and implementation of cost containment processes. To expand the management of these programs, Dr. Brown is involved with many activities such as Pharmacy and Therapeutic Committee meeting preparation and presentation and provision of medication education to pharmacy, nursing and medical staffs.

Dr. Brown assists clients in identifying areas of clinical improvement and cost saving opportunities through benchmarking activities and identification and implementation of pharmacy best practices. This role involves periodic inspections of Clinical Solutions’ client facilities to ensure that laws, standards, and best practices are consistently met.

His goals are to continually reduce and control rising drug costs, streamline correctional drug utilization, provide education to healthcare professionals, and to improve the productivity and accuracy of all pharmacy efforts to enhance patient care. These goals can be accomplished by working with healthcare professionals to alter physician prescribing patterns to utilize the most cost-effective medications based on efficacy and safety.
